About this spacebrThe lake home was built in the early 1930's to house the engineers constructing the entire TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) system that created dams and hydro-electric power throughout the region. It also provided jobs that helped with employment during the Great Depression. A wonderful addition we made recently was a dock, which remains in the water from sometime in March until late October.brbrPlease note this is an old, quaint home. It has its quirks.brThe space:brThis is an old, quaint, home. The lake home itself remains mainly as it was back then, complete with wormy-chestnut walls and ceilings. But now there are beds for FIVE people, not the 12 engineers that lived here back then - ha ha!brbrOne thing that has just been upgraded is the water. Until recently we were on (very good) well water, but now we've hooked onto the County water system - which is of excellent quality. However, we continue to operate on a septic field, so we ask all our guests to be especially gentle with the plumbing - and not put anything down the drains that doesn't belong.brbrAnd we've also just added a few new amenities: a propane-gas grill on the porch, a small dog enclosure in the back yard (so we're happy to say that we're now welcoming dogs to our property - but, sorry, no cats) and a dock.brGuest access:brYou'll have full access to the entire place during your stay, with driveway parking that can accommodate several cars.brOther things to note-brThe TVA controls the height of the lake (to provide electric power year-round and recreational activities in the summer), but sometimes heavy rains cause it to rise somewhat. Our cove is seasonal and our dock is usable at lake level 1012 and over. We typically will be over 1014 from Mid-April through Labor Day. There are situations under which we can accommodate and we will respond quickly. brbr*Tritoon and Jet Ski rental Info: Our Tritoon rental boat is 26 foot Veranda Tritoon with a 200 HP four stroke motor. It will seat 12 adults and travel ~32 mph depending on load, and will pull most towables, wakeboarder or slalom skier. We have plenty of life jackets and a flat-deck style innertube you may use, as well as a knee board. It has AM/FM stereo with Bluetooth/USB connectivity, GPS Chartplotter/fish finder, popup changing room, bimini top, and large overstuffed furniture and sunpad. From May 1 through Labor Day the rent is $360 per day + gas. Any additional days receive a 10% discount. After Labor Day through April, we rent the boat for $285 a day. Just bring it back with a full tank of gas. There is a refundable damage deposit of $250 required. I can add the tritoon as a fee due before check-in. If our dock is not available (see below), the boat will be docked at nearby Sequoyah Marina. We also have a JetSki (PWC) for rent. It is a four stroke 3 seater that will run ~55mph and pull towables. We rent it only from Mid-April through Mid-Sept for $285 per day plus gas. Any additional days receive a 10% discount. There is a $250 refundable damage deposit. NOTE: Renters must have a valid boaters license or Boaters Safety Course OR complete the free online safety course at https://www.rentalboatsafety.com/ and provide proof of completion no more than 7 days before the rental. Due to insurance requirements and state law, we will be required to obtain a copy of proof of course completions. brbr***Lake Levels during off season: Our floating dock will no longer be usable when the water level is below 1012 feet above sea-level. Typically, the lake comes up over that in early April and remains there until at least Labor Day, though in 2024, the lake was lowered early. Historic levels back to 2019 can be seen at this link: http://www.norrislake.info/Level.asp . Rain and downstream water demands cause it to fluctuate from year to year. As of Jan 11, 2026, our dock is sitting on the ground and not usable. The lake level is currently at 1000 ft above sea level and the water's edge is about 100 feet from our dock. We do NOT expect to have the use of our dock until early to mid- April. Check back for updates.brbrAt low winter pool, the lake's edge is ~100 feet from the dock and one can easily walk down to it. Sequoyah Marina and Stardust Marina are each less than 5 minutes away by road and offer overnight mooring along their causeway for ~$15 a night. We continue to rent the tritoon most of the year, but will move it to the neighboring marina (Sequoyah) where you can access it. Sequoyah is about 2 miles away by road. Lake access is available within a 5 minute walk (you can also drive). Sequoyah Marina is the closest boat launch and Anderson County Park is nearby as well.brbrOwl House was originally an Alphabet House built at Oak Ridge. We guess it moved to Persimmon Road in the 1950s and some modifications were made, including raising the ceilings and adding 2 porches and a deck.brbrNorris Lake was the first TVA lake, the dam was completed in 1936. The lake has over 800 miles of shoreline and almost 34000 acres surface area at full pond level. It’s formed by the Clinch & Powell Rivers and is considered one of the cleanest TVA lakes.
