One of the most appealing aspects of living in Dallas, Georgia is its abundant access to beautiful parks, nature, and outdoor recreation facilities. One of the signature recreation amenities is the famous Silver Comet Trail. The trail is a former railway line that has been paved and turned into a non-motorized trail for walkers, hikers, cyclists, roller-bladers, horses, and even dog walkers. The trail begins 13 miles northwest of Atlanta and runs for 61.5 miles all the way to the Alabama border. The trail runs right through the heart of Dallas and is an extremely popular venue for local residents to keep fit and enjoy the great outdoors.

Dallas is rich in local history and the community has gone a long way to stay connected to its recent and not-so-recent past. The centerpiece of this historic preservation is the Pickett’s Mill Battlefield which is widely recognized as one of the best preserved Civil War battlefields in the nation. History buffs can walk the same trail as the Confederate troops and explore the terrain on which this particular battle was fought.

Residents of Dallas take great pride in their arts and cultural amenities and there’s no more significant facility in the city than the restored Dallas Theatre which now serves as a center for fine arts.   First opened in 1927, the theatre was a popular spot for moviegoers in the early part of the 20th century until it burned down in 1948. It was reopened soon after but was closed again in 1965. In 1999, a local group set out to restore the theatre as a fine arts community center. Today it serves as the host of several concerts, stage plays, musicals, and other live performances.
